![]() ![]() This either means you have to reformat that drive or partition, or painstakingly go through the internal Windows Store database and manually remove all related entries from the table, not to mention the registry. So you're stuck in this weird limbo where you can't do anything because Windows doesn't know what to do with apps/add-ons that claim they're installed on your system. You can't get rid of them because they don't exist on your drive, but you can't reinstall them because. The backend is a fucking mess of restricted permissions, strange file relationships, and scattershot dependencies.įor example, "ghost" DLC add-ons can completely fuck your install. I've mentioned this before I believe, but as someone who spent the better part of a week trying to fix a couple of installs with Forza Horizon 4 and Gears 5, I can say with confidence that, yes, the Windows Store/Xbox GP app is trash. Microsoft is just garbage at some things. Also I had to let it finish the days-long sync before it would let me stop it. I've manually moved most things back but now all my timestamps are fucked. When you turn it off, everything remains in the OneDrive folder and all your originals are gone. Well it MOVES EVERYTHING TO A ONEDRIVE FOLDER AND REPLACES ALL THE ORIGINALS WITH SYMBOLIC LINKS!Īll my personal shit got moved to the work cloud and it took me hours to straighten out the mess and I'm not done. I just didn't notice when I set it up that those were default. I didn't realize (and why would i?) how horribly it's designed and I accidentally let it "backup" my Desktop / Photos / My Docs. I had to sync some work files with OneDrive so I installed it. Now Gears 5 has decided that it cannot patch. I went through this a couple of times and now have the Windows / Gamepass games on a separate drive. ![]() #NUKE WINDOWS 10 PC#I'm all about other PC stores for games thriving, but I will not touch Windows Store unless big changes happen. I heard about not being able to delete games off of your storage, I just straight up stopped thinking about using Windows Store for anything after that stuff. #NUKE WINDOWS 10 PATCH#It happened almost a week after I tried to cancel it, it gave me not notification that I was now downloading it, it seemed to have happened right after a Windows patch a few days the new month (thank goodness, but now I had to plan my data around this unwanted bandwidth usage). Then I noticed that Prey was fully downloaded, freaked out, rushed to my ISP's website to see when did it happen. #NUKE WINDOWS 10 DOWNLOAD#A few days later I checked game pass to play the one game I did download as a test (a small game, Ape Out). I decided not to download it and it took me a while to get it to stop, multiple cancel attempts, restarting the PC, and more cancel attempts later it stopped. Here's what happened, I started a download to see the size of the download if I were to play the game. The one time I tried it last year it even downloaded a big game on my data capped internet without me knowing. ![]()
